Two days ago, I decided to clear out all softwares, unused files and contents from my little Dell Latitude D430. I was using Windows VISTA when I purchased it 4 years ago! It was getting slower and slower! I’ve upgraded its RAMs to the maximum – a merely 2GB – last year and still slow. I’d enough of it and decided to completely wipe out everything from the hard-disk and reinstalled only the one I needed! – (Please make sure you back up all data or even your current Windows before doing it yeah) ….:)
After giving it a thought, with feedback and advices I got from colleagues and friends, I decided to install Windows 7 – to be precise, I installed The Ultimate Version from scratch! Being a Microsoft Certified Trainer, I was also given a TechNet Account (its not free yeah, you have to pay for the yearly fees
); so I decided to download the version from the website. However, you have to take note that if you are going to purchase or download any software from Microsoft website, not all files will be in .exe format! Many of these files will be in ISO format. When you choose to do this, not only you are given the option to use the Download Manager, but, you have an additional choice to make as to whether to download a collection of compressed files or to download an ISO file. An ISO file combines all the Windows 7 installation files into a single uncompressed file.
If you choose to download an ISO file (so that you can create a bootable file from a DVD or USB flash drive), copy your Windows 7 ISO file onto your media and, run the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. After you do this, you can install Windows 7 onto your computer directly from the USB flash drive or DVD.
In my case, I did not owned a DVD recorder, so this little software actually helps me in getting my job done quickly and smoothly without needing to look for a DVD recorder!
Download the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool here! For further information, go to Microsoft Site.
After installing Windows 7 Ultimate, I carefully chose only important applications and software on my new reformatted notebook i.e. anti-virus program, office applications software, my ITUNE for both my IPhone and IPad, and other important utilities. Well, I will definitely share with you all my basic applications and utilities the next time around!
My notebook works perfectly well and no more slowing down! (Windows will always be Windows, start up will be a norm after quite sometimes, but I will share with you what free utilities I used to make my life happy ….)
