I was at a shopping complex to buy some first aid supplies. Went into one of a big chain pharmacy to source for the items. At the same time I looked through the health dietary supplements section.
I was approached by a lady who was the supplements sales promoter. She asked me whether I was interested in any products as she saw me holding an omega 6 – fish oil supplement. I just smiled at her. She was holding an X brand (fish oil) bottle in her hand. I knew her intention and before I could said a word, she immediately showed her products to me and started to explain on the benefits.
She was doing her job as a sales promoter. I let her explained what she knew. As I was already engaged in the situation, I decided to ask her about the ingredients used. She stopped for a while, read the label on the bottle (about 2 minutes), then explained to me. I asked her whether any an omega 3 in it. She referred to the label again and again after about a minute or so, she replied, “No sir, but if you want an omega 3 in it, I can recommend you other brands”. I smiled again at her; and again before I could said no, she just went to other shelves to look for it.
I knew that she wanted to make a sales to earn commissions. I just observed her. She went from one shelve to shelve, read the product’s label and at last brought to me 3 bottles of different brands.
She showed me the ingredients especially the omega 3 statement. She continued to explain the benefits to me. She was trying very hard to make a sale. She even told me that many people took the products and so far there was no complaint – to her no complaint mean good products.
As a network marketer, you must know your products before you try to make any sale. The lady might be new to the industry, but she must ensure that she knows all her products before approaching a customer.
You must know what people needs; not the benefits. Asking what your prospect want, listen to his/her needs could save you time.
The most important aspect is that you must be the product of the products. Use the products first before you recommend to people. Network marketing is about people. You cannot lie just to make a sale.
One of my products is healthcare supplements. I consumed all the supplements for about 3 months to ensure that it really works and effective. In fact, I’m the product of the products. I’ll share with you next time how I lost more than 12 kg in 3 months! The best part of it, I’ve been maintaining my current weight for almost 4 years now. The products really works for me and also to my customers too. To date, I’m still taking the products that I have fate in them, but not the weight lost program. There are others that make me what I am today.
As for the lady, I did not purchased any supplements form her as the reason I went to the pharmacy was to get my first aid supplies. That was my objective.
