Give Yourself A Chance

Prospecting is one of the daily ‘habits’ of network marketers. Whether you like it or not, without doing it, you cannot grow your organization. However,it’s easier said than done. One of the problem is that the prospects are either afraid to do it or just simply ignored it. The funny thing, these so called prospects always complained that they don’t like the work, the boss, the company, etc. and looking for other openings or opportunities. The sad thing is when they were presented with one, they just ignored or just plain “lazy” to do it.

Imagine now that you are approached by someone and offered with an opportunity. What is your decision?

You’ve heard it said that “Opportunity knocks once.” Don’t believe it. Opportunity is knocking all the time. The problem is that it often knocks too soon. Remember that job offer you didn’t accept, that speech invitation you didn’t feel quite up to or that house you almost bought?

Unless you are convinced you can’t handle it, be willing to accept more work and responsibility, and trust that you’ll grow into it. Don’t wait for things to be perfect. When your boss asks,”Do you think you can handle a new job?” You should answer without hesitation, “You bet!” You may be scared to death. You may have doubts. How can you learn all that you have to learn? You already feel overloaded! These kinds of feelings are normal when people are given new responsibilities.

But so long as you can swim, (not drown), jump in with both feet and do the dog paddle if you must. You can learn the breast stroke later.

Saying NO at the Right Time


I was supposed to attend System training in Malacca, West Malaysia today. It was a full day seminar from 9am to 6pm. But due to unforeseen circumstances, I wasn’t able to be there. I need to attend to some urgent family matters which are more important than the seminar. For me, missing a seminar is not as hurt as hurting the needs of my family members. At the end of the day, when you are in the situation that need someone to talk to, it will be your close family member or your “friends” that will be there to help you. Again, it’s up to you to decide which is best for you.

This situation clearly shows that I’m  just one human being that can only planned what I want, but whether I go through or achieve it is beyond my jurisdiction. You cannot predict what’s going to happen in the future, you can’t control what’s going to happen to your plan; but you can help yourselves to attract reasonable outcome in fulfilling your dreams and desires. It’s the Law of Attraction! The Universe is created by the Almighty. He is the Creator! You definitely cannot dictate the futures. But again, you can plan and be responsible for what you want to have in life. Shape up your destiny.

In Network Marketing, you draw up the plan as to what you want to see and achieve. You know it better than other people because I doubt you’ll tell everything about you to your working uplines. There will be some areas where you do not want others to know. Even if you’re married, there probably a time when you do not want your life partner to know about certain matters; so what’s so special about other people?

Your uplines may help you in the business; they can help you to map out your business plan because they are experience in the industry; moreover, your working uplines are part of a good network marketing system; but my advice to you, don’t let them dictate your life, and you must be able to act firm at the right time. You must be able to say NO to something that go against your will especially your faith.

Sometimes you feel very difficult to say No to others. To the extend that by doing this, you feel that you’ve hurt others! (eventhough by saying yes you are actually make yourselve unhappy, hurt and miserable). You’re wrong! You must learn to reject others because in this industry, you are going to be rejected over and over again. Rejecting something that go against your will and faith is a must! There’s no compromise. If you strongly feel that attending a certain seminar or meeting is a waste of time, then don’t go. Don’t try to please someone by attending when your heart is not with it. Just do something that you love and have passion doing it. You will grow and subsequently improve yourselve.

Do not cheat others! By saying Yes to please others is not a good idea. How long can you do it (pleasing others)? Do consider to change, as you never know that by saying NO – from the bottom of your heart – could actually change other people lives. As a trainer, I cannot please all my students. As a Network Marketer, I cannot say Yes to all my prospects. The concept that customers are always right can only be accepted if they are really right! Nowadays, intellectual marketing distribution is being practiced in the industry, as such more information are actually being explained to the customers if they want to buy products or involved in network marketing.

Network Marketing is a challenging but manageable business franchise if you have faith in doing it. You must know when, where and how to say a Yes or No. Saying Yes is not that hard, but you must learn to say No at the Right Time. It’s for your own good.

How do you stay motivated?

Yesterday, I shared with you about the daily habits you should be doing on how to generate self-motivating factors in your network marketing business. Here are some further tips to help you get started on the way to personal development and maintaining motivation.

The first point is to find out and recognize your core desire. The real reason as to why people are not motivated in what they are doing is because they are not doing what they want to do. You have to know what’s your passion and needs in life. Core desires are those things that you want with all your heart. They are deep, intense, powerful longings, persistent, ever-demanding, heartfelt hungers or yearnings that pierce you to the very core.

One method to identify them is that they are always tied to a strong emotion in your heart-which is the reason anything in your life gets done at a high level of success, satisfaction, and fun.

After you identify your real desires, take some time to care for yourself. Always find time to release yourself from works and tasks that could stretch you the whole day. A 15 minutes break would actually bring happiness and joy to your yourself. When you are able to enjoy what you are doing, you are on the right track!

Don’t be afraid of making mistakes! Mistakes are meant to be treated as an experience in life. Learning from the mistakes made will encourage you to be more motivated and focus.

Life is meant to be experienced. You should be more flexible and willing to change your approach in the way you view life. Human can only plan; and planning will not guarantee that you will have a smooth ride in achieving your dreams. Keep yourself open to new things and ready to learn. One thing for sure, you have to go out of your comfort zone and be a constant learner.

Do not be afraid of getting help from others if you are not sure what to do. Get out and find someone that you can talk to; someone who could guide, teach and mentor you in whatever you desires. There are few things that are more important when it comes to maintaining motivation and achieving success.

Lastly, you must always remember and learn to celebrate your achievements! You must treat yourself when you make any progress or achieve something in life because you deserve it. This will prompt you to both aim for more and
achieve more.

The Importance of Self-Motivation

As a network marketer, an IT trainer and an outdoor events organizer, I have to ensure that I’m able to manage the time well to execute all the tasks accordingly. Being able to manage your time is not enough. You need to have the passion. You must love what you are doing. If you want to succeed in whatever you do, you must know the art of self-motivation.

On my previous blog, I shared with you an article written by the founder of the Leaders Club, Andre Vatke on the importance of motivation if you are a network marketer. In the article, he stated the reasons to be self-motivated if you want to succeed in the industry.

How do you motivate yourself? It may sound difficult, but actually if you know how to do it, motivating yourself towards success, is achievable. It may easier said than done. But, deep in my heart I know that you can do it.

Needs and confidence equalled actions and motivation. Motivation comes from many angles. As a network marketer, the system provides you with the positive environment, teaching you all the know-how, giving you all the tools you need to succeed in the business. However, the most important aspect in keeping you focus in the business is none other than your own self-motivation in believing that you can succeed in the business.

How you keep yourself motivated will determine how positive and serious you are in managing your business franchise. One of the method to keep you self-motivated is to have daily habits or tasks that will keep you focus and positively charged. I called this the daily habits of a Network Marketer.

Listen to tapes related to the industry. Read books to increase your knowledge and if you have to opportunity to built a mini library, then do it. Try to attend all meetings organized by the system and your direct selling company. You must use all your products that you are marketing.  This will give you the confident to share with others by knowing the characteristics of the products. Have regular contacts with your working uplines. Try to be a good student yourself. Don’t forget to build your organization by doing some retailing of the products and share with others the business ooportunity.

If you continue to do this very often, I bet that you will be motivated yourself. You strengthen the believe, you will not be easily distracted by things not concern to your business, and you will definitely put aside all rejections and focussing on taking actions to succeed.

There are other methods available but the above is one of the core that must be done so that your desire won’t be ‘killed’ by the negative surroundings.

You can’t succeed without it…

An article worth sharing by Andre Vatke, Founder of the Leaders Club….

I’m probably stating the obvious when I say that you can’t succeed in business without motivation.

Still, one popular network marketing guru says that’s a lie – you are already motivated enough – so you don’t need to think about motivation. The statistics don’t back that up.

Over 80% of the people involved in network marketing today don’t EVER promote their business. They don’t talk to a single prospect, place a single ad or take even the smallest step beyond joining their company.

Are we to assume these people are motivated?

Motivation by definition is all about the inner strivings of individuals that direct behavior. It’s our unsatisfied desires that create within us the motivation to act with purposeful behavior to achieve our goal.

Lack of action is evidence of a lack of motivation. Period.

The key to network marketing success lies not only in our own motivation but also in our ability to motivate others.

Maybe that’s what’s missing from the popular training formula – the focus beyond ‘why’ something isn’t working and on to ‘how’ we can make it work.

Lee Iacocca said, “Motivation is everything. You can do the work of two people, but you can’t be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy down the line and get him to inspire his people.”

Network marketing is a business that hinges on duplication. And no matter what your own level of success and action is, it will duplicate through your organization. Your activity (and attitude) will duplicate into an active downline. Your inactivity (and attitude) will duplicate into an inactive downline.

One thing to remember is that duplication is never exact. Once in a while you will find someone who will outshine your level of action, but this is rare. Generally your downline organization will do less than you do. This means that if you want to increase the average level of action, you must increase your own level of action even more.

If you’re trying to get your downline into action, start by looking at the motivation cycle:

First: Are you motivated to build this business and achieve your goals? If you are having trouble getting into action it’s probably not actually due to external influences like lack of time, health issues or financial struggles. You might think that it is but it’s not. After all, if you need an excuse not to make a phone call, listen to a training session or build your skills, you will always find one.

Rather than make excuses about your inactivity, look for ways to motivate yourself to greater action. Discover a reason that will make you do what you don’t want to do right now. Look for ways to stop procrastinating. Also look at what may happen if you do not take action today. If you’re happy with what your life will look like in three years, chances are you’ll continue to procrastinate and make excuses.

Second: Once you have yourself motivated it’s time to start motivating your downline. Notice that I said ‘after’ – you cannot motive people if you are not motivated!

Help downline find a reason in their own life that’s big enough to get them into action. This could be as simple as a pain they have right now they don’t want. Knowing the reason they joined your business is your number one tool in communicating with them. Revisit it often.

Third: Once your downline members have learned how to motivate themselves, teach them how to motivate their own people.

Becoming motivationally fit is much like becoming physically fit. Start with 10 to 15 minutes of positive thought a day. Listen or read something that is uplifting and makes you feel good about yourself and your future. The point isn’t to become fit overnight, but to build a habit and make a lifestyle change. Over time you’ll find your outlook becoming increasingly more positive. The result will be that you not only feel in charge of your own future, but you’ll also have the power to actually take charge.

I love reading books on personal development, self-motivation, success stories, how-to and general information. One of the books that I ever read was “The Incomplete Book of Failures” by Stephen Pile. One of the entries in the book was about the world’s most unsuccessful inventor. His name was Arthur Pedrick.

Between the year 1962 to 1977, the man, Arthur Pedrick, patented a total of 162 inventions. However, not one of them was ever produced commercially. His inventions included a bicycle “with amphibious capacity”, a car attachment that would enable a person to drive the car from the back seat, and a golf ball that could be steered in flight. One of his greatest ideas was a method of irrigating the world’s deserts by sending giant snowballs from the polar regions.

No one doubted that he was highly creative. But why did his inventions fail? An idea can only succeed when the self-interest of the creator and the self-interest of the user does not conflict.
