Prospecting is one of the daily ‘habits’ of network marketers. Whether you like it or not, without doing it, you cannot grow your organization. However,it’s easier said than done. One of the problem is that the prospects are either afraid to do it or just simply ignored it. The funny thing, these so called prospects always complained that they don’t like the work, the boss, the company, etc. and looking for other openings or opportunities. The sad thing is when they were presented with one, they just ignored or just plain “lazy” to do it.

Imagine now that you are approached by someone and offered with an opportunity. What is your decision?

You’ve heard it said that “Opportunity knocks once.” Don’t believe it. Opportunity is knocking all the time. The problem is that it often knocks too soon. Remember that job offer you didn’t accept, that speech invitation you didn’t feel quite up to or that house you almost bought?

Unless you are convinced you can’t handle it, be willing to accept more work and responsibility, and trust that you’ll grow into it. Don’t wait for things to be perfect. When your boss asks,”Do you think you can handle a new job?” You should answer without hesitation, “You bet!” You may be scared to death. You may have doubts. How can you learn all that you have to learn? You already feel overloaded! These kinds of feelings are normal when people are given new responsibilities.

But so long as you can swim, (not drown), jump in with both feet and do the dog paddle if you must. You can learn the breast stroke later.

I was supposed to attend System training in Malacca, West Malaysia today. It was a full day seminar from 9am to 6pm. But due to unforeseen circumstances, I wasn’t able to be there. I need to attend to some urgent family matters which are more important than the seminar. For me, missing a seminar is not as hurt as hurting the needs of my family members. At the end of the day, when you are in the situation that need someone to talk to, it will be your close family member or your “friends” that will be there to help you. Again, it’s up to you to decide which is best for you.

This situation clearly shows that I’m  just one human being that can only planned what I want, but whether I go through or achieve it is beyond my jurisdiction. You cannot predict what’s going to happen in the future, you can’t control what’s going to happen to your plan; but you can help yourselves to attract reasonable outcome in fulfilling your dreams and desires. It’s the Law of Attraction! The Universe is created by the Almighty. He is the Creator! You definitely cannot dictate the futures. But again, you can plan and be responsible for what you want to have in life. Shape up your destiny.

In Network Marketing, you draw up the plan as to what you want to see and achieve. You know it better than other people because I doubt you’ll tell everything about you to your working uplines. There will be some areas where you do not want others to know. Even if you’re married, there probably a time when you do not want your life partner to know about certain matters; so what’s so special about other people?

Your uplines may help you in the business; they can help you to map out your business plan because they are experience in the industry; moreover, your working uplines are part of a good network marketing system; but my advice to you, don’t let them dictate your life, and you must be able to act firm at the right time. You must be able to say NO to something that go against your will especially your faith.

Sometimes you feel very difficult to say No to others. To the extend that by doing this, you feel that you’ve hurt others! (eventhough by saying yes you are actually make yourselve unhappy, hurt and miserable). You’re wrong! You must learn to reject others because in this industry, you are going to be rejected over and over again. Rejecting something that go against your will and faith is a must! There’s no compromise. If you strongly feel that attending a certain seminar or meeting is a waste of time, then don’t go. Don’t try to please someone by attending when your heart is not with it. Just do something that you love and have passion doing it. You will grow and subsequently improve yourselve.

Do not cheat others! By saying Yes to please others is not a good idea. How long can you do it (pleasing others)? Do consider to change, as you never know that by saying NO – from the bottom of your heart – could actually change other people lives. As a trainer, I cannot please all my students. As a Network Marketer, I cannot say Yes to all my prospects. The concept that customers are always right can only be accepted if they are really right! Nowadays, intellectual marketing distribution is being practiced in the industry, as such more information are actually being explained to the customers if they want to buy products or involved in network marketing.

Network Marketing is a challenging but manageable business franchise if you have faith in doing it. You must know when, where and how to say a Yes or No. Saying Yes is not that hard, but you must learn to say No at the Right Time. It’s for your own good.

As a business owner, opportunity is something that I always treasured. However, the experience that I went through for the past 4 years as a full-time network marketer, has taught me to be more “choosy”, more realistic, value for money and ‘doable’. I strongly believed that apart from self-motivation which you must have (no question about it), passion and patience must also go hand-in-hand in realizing the dreams to be successful.

You must love what you are doing. The richest man in India in one of his addresses to his employees said that they should never ever loved the company or the bosses, but to always love what they are doing (job). The reason was many people stay in a company because of their passion and love with their work.

Family support is also one of the important factors. They must know what you are doing. Sharing what you have been doing in a day’s work frequently would makes the family ties more closer. If no one appreciate what you’ve done, at least your family appreciates you. Grow with them. They are best supporting partners when you are feeling down, especially your life partner – wife, or any one that have touch your life.

Apart from being a network marketer, I’m also an IT Trainer and an outdoor enthusiast. I applied what I’ve learned in Network Marketing to the non-industry too; and it works! As an IT Trainer, I treated it as a business rather than just another type of professions. I have to give my best services – products – to my client (even you only have one)! You have to keep improving and upgrade your knowledge as to how to need to keep the phase of the network marketing industry. At the end of the day, it’s all up to you whether you see it as a business or just another day of fulfilling your desires.

After going through the journey, I see that most successful business owners (especially network marketers), shared the same characteristics as though they are fighting to win a war or to survive. Their codename which they instilled in their heart and soul is not to easily give up what you love to do – “No Retreat, No Surrender”. These group of people are so optimistic, so positive and full of hope in their lives. Although they all encountered some difficult situations managing their business, none of them feel frustrated. In fact, they are able to overcome many difficulties better than anyone else. Treat all that comes into your business journey as how you handle your life’s journey. It’s all about surviving and giving. Give whatever you have, except DO NOT GIVE UP!

The most important factor is your faith! Believing in your faith or the religion of your choice is the key factor to achieve success! Personally, this is the ‘secret’ that have keep me going on and built stronger ties with whatever I do. The more you practiced it, the more confident, calm and patient you will be. This is the Force of the Universe! It’s the Law of Attraction! The method of getting what you want in life; the ways of achieving success. You are not a creator, you’re a planner of your own destiny.

Network marketing is a business that helping others to fulfil their dreams and change lives. This is merely not just a statement to make people feel good, but it’s a reality. It’s also true that doing the business is not easy as what the guru said and claimed. But, if you really focus and take actions, you will succeed in the industry. It’s a matter of how long you need to make it happen; and the network marketing system that you are executing in managing your personal business franchise.

Just remember, “No Retreat, No Surrender”. Don’t give up easily! You planned your own destiny and you are responsible to change your life.
